The Power Of Association
By Cyrus Uible
Did your mother ever warn you when you were a kid about the dangers of hanging out with the wrong crowd? She might not have used the same term, but what she was talking about is the power of association and it is one of the most important principles to think about when building your network marketing business.

People will rise or fall to the level of their peer group. Here’s a little test you can try. Take the 5 people that you spend the most time with. If you’re married your spouse does not count. Now take the income of all five of these people and take an average. You don’t have to know the exact number but you should be able to at least make a guess. Chances are that your income will be within 10% of this number. If you’re not happy with this income, then one of the most powerful ways you change your personal income is to change the group of people you are spending the most time with. This principle is especially important in your network marketing business. Here are some tips that will help you to take advantage of this principle.

1. Get Around The Most Successful People – Find out who the most successful people in your business are. If they are speaking at a meeting, make sure you get to that meeting. If they have written books or made audio cds then make sure to read and listen to them. If at all possible, meet these people. Ask them questions and try to get their advice. Most people at the top received a lot of help from others along the way and are more than happy to help other aspiring business people.

2. Friends – This is one

of the hardest things to confront for aspiring business owners. We all have friends that are near and dear to our heart, but they may not have the same business aspirations that we do. They will always be your friends, but you absolutely must be mindful of who you spend the most time with if you truly want to succeed in your network marketing business.

3. Family – We can’t choose our family. You have to love them no matter what. However, if there is a family reunion when there is a big meeting for your business sometimes you have to make a hard decision. If you are serious about making a sizable residual income then you have to realize that your family actually needs you to go to that meeting, even if they don’t know it yet.

4. Co-workers – Many of you are building your network marketing business on the side outside of your job. If that is your case then you have co-workers. Co-workers are notorious for stealing the dreams of those in this industry. Realize that you only have to work with them during the hours you are at your job and that their opinions mean nothing. Do they help you to pay your bills? No. So they have no say in how you support and plan for your family’s financial future.

All in all, make sure that you are spending time with people who are succeeding at the level which you want to attain if at all possible. It doesn’t just have to be the amount of money. Look at the relationships they have, the company they keep, the talents they possess and the peace in their lives. Your life will tend to be just like theirs so make sure you choose carefully.

Each one of these ideas is critical to your success. It’s also a good idea to check out some of the other resources available at mlmachiever.com They have some good articles and resources that cover the basics of building a solid network marketing business.
