How is the Entertainment/Movie Production field looking for the future?
Eventually i will be transferring to CSLA to major in Business management/marketing (possibly macroeconomics) and want
to intern for either Universal Studios/MGM/Paramount etc.
I do read too much news, but i really wanted to hear some opinions on where
the
entertainment industry lies with this economic recession.
I think entertainment will always do well. Dont forget, cable and movie rentals are usually expenses that SAVE money, when compared to other entertainment.
I think things are going the way of MORE. Movies on demand from massive libraries. Thousands of films from pro to amateur in the genera you enjoy.
Recession wont stop the hobbyist filmmakers and editors who can spend $2,000.00 to manufacture 1,000 DVDs.
If it will stop anything, it would simply cause a trimming back on those films that cost $20 Million to make – because movie theaters may not sell as many tickets and rentals can obviously not meet that type of revenue.

Not to be one sided but, as long as Will Smith is alive great.

that industry will never die. Only problem is everyone wants to do it.

Hmm… I think there will be a shortage of top actresses soon, as all the current ones may die of starvation OR turn sideways, and we wont be able to see their "lovely" skeletons on screen.

Even in the great depression people went to the movies.

the film industry is corrupt…jus like evry feild has its flaws. if it doesnt bother u wat type of movies r out there then ur fine otherwise b prepared to work under certain prerequisites. im a film major. yah its always gona b on top, business-wise but hopefully it wont take the wrong turn (i mean look at the number one movie in the box office ryt now…disappointing wen thers other gud movies out on the same day..doesnt look like thers a bright future) but gud luck on watevr u decide…entertainment has gotten so much wrong attention, evryone wants to get invoved…lets jus hope ur one of the few who actually has sum honest interest in it rather than another bandwagon-victim…one things for sure..thers gona b alota competition amongst a crowded field…but no worries…movies/entertainment is gona b around for awhile…even under this economic restrain, people hav sum how manage to get around to the theaters n support watever (crappy) movie they decide to watch….
