Newborn Shih Tzu Puppies And Early Surroundings

Shih Tzu puppies begin to make noises shortly after their eyes open. They will also begin to try and get up and waddle around the whelping box at this time. Between 3 and 4 weeks you might want to provide new Shih Tzu puppies with a new safe daytime area for extra stimulation. A new larger area physically stimulates and mentally challenges newborn Shih Tzu puppies. Be sure the new area has good footing. Before this time the Shih Tzu dam may protest about moving her offspring. At about 3 or 4 weeks, however, usually the Shih Tzu dam will agree to a new spot. The dog’s earliest ancestors that were related to the wolf actually utilized several den sites. The first den was used for whelping. The second den was always larger to provide the offspring with safe areas of exploration. Once Shih Tzu puppies are large enough to clamber out of the whelping box, they need an area large enough to clearly define sleeping, eating, playing and toilet areas. </div>U.S. puts 30% tariff on solar panelsThe United States is sticking it to Chinese solar panel makers and will enforce tariffs of 30 percent or more on equipment manufactured there and sold into the United States.

that can be dangerous or lethal. Stairwells can cause fatality if Shih Tzu puppies explore them and fall. Trapped ammonia fumes from urine are toxic. Heating systems, electrical panels and appliances require thorough checking before placing a litter nearby. A garage should be thoroughly cleaned. Physical objects, cleaning abrasives, stored gasoline, motor oil or paint must be removed. A safe play area can be created by using a garage’s side door to the yard. Block the areas under and around the door from cold and dam drafts. Flooring should have a firm, no slippery surface. Line your whelping box with clean soft blankets or towels in the beginning. If carpeting is used, it should be washable. Do not use indoor/outdoor carpeting. Manufacturing chemicals can react with urine. Use of these materials can cause burns to the bodies of Shih Tzu puppies. Do not use newspapers in the whelping box. Newspapers are slick and contain chemicals used in the ink. Do not use wood shavings in the whelping box. Wood shavings can be inhaled or ingested which also can cause fatalities. When Shih Tzu puppies begin to move around inside the box, house-training can be stimulated by separating the whelping box into two areas, sleeping and eliminating. Even very young Shih Tzu puppies do not like to eliminate where they sleep, eat and play. Within a few days, puppies learn to move away from their sleeping area to eliminate. Use removable sides in the whelping box to encourage them to sleep in the whelping box and eliminating away from it. If you use a heat lamp, use it only in the sleeping and playing areas. The Shih Tzu dam will require an area to close to her Shih Tzu puppies but a place where she can relax away from them. Healthy Shih Tzu puppies will sleep on top of each other. Once out of the whelping box an small airline crate with the door removed makes an effective dog house for Shih Tzu puppies to rest and sleep with each other. This early use of an airline crate provides the new owner with several advantages. The newly arrived Shih Tzu puppy readily accepts the familiar airline crate as sleeping quarters, making the adjustment to a new home less traumatic. Author: Connie Limon. Seattle fund manager accused of $48M fraud
A federal grand jury has indicted Seattle financial adviser Mark Spangler on 23 criminal charges, accusing him of defrauding investors of nearly $48 million by secretly diverting their money to startup companies he co-founded.
On Thursday, a Seattle grand jury indicted the 57-year-old Spangler on 23 criminal charges, including wire fraud, money laundering and investment adviser fraud, the office of the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Washington said in a press release.

Report: Foreclosure activity slowing in Wash., nation
A new report says foreclosures are declining nationally, particularly in the West.
According to RealtyTrac, a California-based foreclosure listing service, foreclosure filings nationwide in April hit their lowest monthly total since July 2007, and foreclosure activity declined sharply in several Western states.
Foreclosure activity nationwide was down 14 percent in April from April of 2011, with one in every 698 U.S. residences having a foreclosure filing during the month.

First Boeing 787 gets fitting at Sea-Tac Airport in preparation for ANA route

As Mariners struggle to win, attendance takes a hit

Credit card and mortgage debt down, but so are scores
While a typical American's credit card and mortgage debt have both fallen since last year, the average credit score nevertheless fell by one point between March and April.
So says Credit Karma, a San Francisco company that tracks such things. The average American consumer had about $5,650 in credit card debt in April, down 13 percent from a year earlier. And average mortgage debt was down 3 percent year-over-year at $166,631.

It's official: Facebook IPO prices at $38
Facebook's IPO has priced at $38 per share, the company reported in a news release issued minutes after markets closed, Thursday.

HP to cut up to 25,000 jobs (report); no word on Mass. layoffs

Tufts plans level 3 biolab in Boston's Chinatown

Broker-Dealer ordered to recover $1M+ in annuities sold to elderly widow

Beck, a Maryland-based broker-dealer, has been ordered by the Massachusetts Secretary of State to refund more than $1 million in annuities improperly sold to an elderly widow by one of its representatives.
The order, issued by the state's Securities Division, also imposes a $90,000 fine on H. Beck for failure to supervise Paul J. Dumouchel of Wellesley, who was a registered representative of the firm from February 2009 through November 2011, according to Secretary of the State William F. Galvin.

Obama?s senior adviser, Valerie Jarrett, rented the 17-room ranch-style home at 89 East Chop Drive in the historic East Chop neighborhood for several years, and the first family vacationed there prior to and after Obama became president. Obama last visited in 2009.

BU School of Management gets second multi-million-dollar gift from former Macy's exec
Allen Questrom, retired chief executive officer of several of the nation?s largest department and specialty stores, has given $10 million to the Boston University School of Management, according to BU Today, a university publication.
This is Questrom?s second multimillion dollar gift to the school. In 2007, Questrom gave the school gave $4 million for an endowed deanship and professorship called the Allen Questrom Professor and Dean.

Boston small biz owners gloomier than other cities (survey)

Only 19 percent of Boston-area respondents to the study said they plan to hire more employees, compared to 31 percent nationwide. About 56 percent said they expected revenue to increase versus the national 61 percent, and 38 percent said they?d market their business to get more customers, 9 percentage points less than the nationwide figure.
