How To Achieve An Affiliate Income
By Keith Richardson
You want to work at home and make an income using the Internet?

Well the easiest and cheapest way to do so is by promoting Affiliate Programs.

To find out if a site has an Affiliate Program in place just look on any site web site you are interested in and search for an Affiliate sign up section. It’s normally either just under the main heading or at the foot of the web page and normally, it is free to sign up.

Once signed up you will be allocated a web site address with a unique reference and that reference is the one you use in your advertising. Most web companies go out of their way to help you by giving you access to advertising materials, such as sales letters, solo ad pages, short adverts for newsletters etc.

Your main job is to drive people (called traffic) to the web site where the host can identify that the person visiting has arrived there from your Affiliate

Link. Any sale that follows from that person will automatically generate money for you by way of commission.

In short, the web host allows you to advertise their web site, gives you all the sales and advertising materials you need and will give you a percentage of every sale that is made through your Affiliate link.

It does not get easier than that. You have no product, no web site and no orders to fulfil.

Even better, some Web Hosts offer a two-tier Affiliate Program whereby you not only earn a commission on any sale made by a visitor, but if that visitor also signs up to the program, you will earn a smaller percentage of their sale as well. It could be 60% on your affiliate link and 5% on the second tier!

A little extra money but for no extra work, now that’s got to be good.

So where do you advertise then? Well that’s pretty easy as well.

For example, if the site you are interested in, sells books on home decorating, then go to any search engine and type in “home decorating” This will give you a multitude of sites to look at.

What you do is to scan through several sites looking for those that have their own newsletter. Then join up, as they are normally free.

Within the newsletter there is normally a section for advertising and what the rates are. (Not all newsletters carry advertising, if the one you look at does not, then move on to the next.)

Then it’s a question of costs.

If the advert you wish to run costs say $30.00 and for every sale attributed to you, you get $7.50, then you need to sell at least 4 products just to break even, 5 or more would be better!

The fact is the bigger the circulation, the bigger the audience, and the greater the chance of a sale.

This is easier said than done of course. Generally, the response on a ‘one off’ advert can be as little as just 0.5%; That would mean a circulation of 1000 people would maybe only generate a response of just 5 people.

Hopefully this has given you a general idea of how you too can make money from home, using the Internet.
