JPMorgan Chase trading loss to increase by at least $1 billion

CEO Jamie Dimon announced the loss last week, and said they could double within the next few quarters, the NYT reported.
The FBI has launched a preliminary investigation into the bank.

Southwest slows fleet growth, ups dividend

Wells Fargo customers in Florida to get $7 fee
<img src='http://assets.bizjournals.com/jacksonville/images/BOL-Wells-Fargo*100.jpg?v=2'>Wells Fargo customers in Florida with Essential Checking accounts will be charged a $7 monthly fee starting in September unless they keep a $1,500 minimum daily balance or have $500 a month directly deposited, the Sun Sentinel reports.
The fee will go to $5 if customers are willing to get online instead of paper statements.
Wells Fargo (NYSE: WFC) is the third-largest bank in Northeast Florida with 62 offices, $6.1 billion in area deposits and a market share of 13.22 percent.<div class="feedflare">

Wells Fargo asks for reversal of $203M overdraft damages

Wells Fargo (NYSE:WFC) asked a federal appeals court to throw out the judgment, saying the lawsuit claims are preempted by federal banking law.
The suit came after customers alleged the bank changed its treatment of debit-card transactions and cash withdrawals in 1999 to boost overdraft fees.

Judge keeps Hostess Brands' union contacts intact

Salesforce stock up after hours on Q1 earnings
Salesforce.com inc. on Thursday reported first quarter revenue of $695 million, an increase of 38 percent on a year-over-year basis.
San Francisco-based company (NYSE:CRM), with offices in San Mateo, provides enterprise cloud computing applications. It reported a net loss for the first quarter of $19.5 million, or 14 cents per share.
The company's stock dropped $2.78 per share to close at $133.80. It was trading up more than 7 percent after hours.

Applied Materials Q2 revenue beats analyst expectations
Applied Materials Inc.'s stock closed Thursday at $10.48 per share. It was trading down nearly 1 percent after hours. The company on Thursday reported net income of $289 million, or 22 cents per share, compared to $489 million, or 37 cents per share, in the same quarter of last year.

Bill would prevent Facebook co-founder from evading taxes
Legislation has been introduced by Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and and Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) that would prevent executives such as Facebook Inc. co-founder Eduardo Saverin from avoiding taxes by giving up their U.S. citizenship.
Saverin renounced his U.S. citizenship in September and lives in Singapore, according Business Journals Washington Bureau Chief Kent Hoover.
Singapore doesn't tax capital gains. Saverin could be saving as much as $67 million if he sells his stock in the Menlo Park-based...<div class="feedflare">

Facebook IPO shares sell at $38, raising $16B
Facebook Inc. sold its shares in its initial public offering Thursday afternoon at $38 a share, raising $16 billion in the biggest tech IPO in history.
The price values the Menlo Park social networking company at $104.2 billion, the highest valuation of any U.S. company on the day they went public.

HP said to plan 25,000-30,000 job cuts
Hewlett-Packard Co. will reportedly announce plans to cut between 25,000 and 30,000 jobs over the next year or so when it posts earnings next week.
Reports that cite unnamed sources on AllThingsDigital, Bloomberg and Business Insider vary on the size of the work force reduction at Palo Alto-based HP (NYSE:HPQ).
The restructuring will reportedly include a number of voluntary retirement packages, with AllThingsDigital putting that number at about 5,000 people.

MarkLogic hires eMeter's Gary Bloom as new CEO
<img src='http://assets.bizjournals.com/sanjose/news/Gary-Bloom-High-Res*100.jpg?v=1'>MarkLogic Corp. said Thursday it has hired Gary Bloom as its new president and CEO.
The San Carlos-based company specializes in powering big data applications.
Bloom was previously the CEO and president of San Mateo-based smart grid management software company eMeter, which was acquired by Siemens Corp. last year. It makes metering software for electric, gas and water utilities.
Before that he was a consultant at TPG, a private investment firm.
