Micron stock jumps after chip order reports
Reports that Apple Inc. is making large chip orders with Elpida Memory Inc. have spiked interest in Micron Technology Inc.?s stock.
Micron was one of the most actively traded stocks today, according to the Associated Press .
Micron (NASDAQ: MU) last week won the exclusive right to purchase Elpida Memory of Japan for 200 billion Yen, or $2.5 billion.
Debt forced Japanese chip maker Elpida to file bankruptcy protection in February.

Rackwise extends contract with Stanford accelerator
Rackwise Inc. signed a renewal and expansion of its contract with the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in Menlo Park,
The Stanford Linear Accelerator is operated by Stanford University for the U.S. Department of Energy.
The particle research laboratory has been using Rackwise data center infrastructure management since 2009, and it is expanding its use of the software to model power use.

Berkshire Hathaway buying Media General papers for $142M

William Peace University wins $710K grant

For starters, Peace will install a cistern that will store rainwater that will account for 90 percent of the irrigation water.

Wake Tech hires police chief

Bankruptcy filings rise 4% in Wake County
<img src='http://assets.bizjournals.com/triangle/images/Bankruptcy6*100.jpg?v=2'>Wake County saw a small increase in the number of new bankruptcies filed in April.
A total of 211 Wake County businesses and individuals in the county filed new petitions last month in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina, according to a report the court published Wednesday.
That represents an increase of more than 4 percent from April 2011. Numbers in most recent months have been down by small percentages, both in Wake County and in Durham and Orange Counties.
